Despite fresh union pleas that the government pause its hotly contested push to raise France's legal retirement age from 62 to 64, Macron seemingly remained wedded to it. Protests and strikes against it gripped France again Tuesday, with many thousands marching and the Eiffel Tower closed and police ramping up security amid government warnings that radical demonstrators intended "to destroy, to injure and to kill." The French leader previously used a special constitutional power to ram the reform past legislators without allowing them a vote. His move this month further galvanized the protest movement. Violence has since flared and thousands of tons of stinking garbage have piled up on Paris' streets as sanitation workers strike. Alongside all of this the internet is having a fun time creating as many memes
as possible. Bringing connections to the french revolution of the 18th century, many are comparing the French president to the late louis the 16th. Many are claiming this is the beginning of a new French revolution, and the question is: are these memes harborers of fake news, or are they just fun?
